Editorial announcement: The scope of EJAL

EJAL has been welcoming papers on all aspects of second or foreign language learning and teaching since its inception in 2015. Yet, an analysis of the articles published in the past issues has revealed compelling evidence that the number of the papers on teacher-education related issues outnumbers the ones that focused on a range of issues on language, language acquisition and learning, communication in contemporary context of use. Therefore, here, we announce that EJAL will no longer accept papers whose focus is language teacher education. Those papers on the same research topic which have already been submitted to the journal before 2020, passed the editorial screening and sent to external reviewers will complete the review process as outlined in “Peer Review Process” policy.

It is hoped that this careful decision to reclarify the scope of the journal will stimulate even more submissions from the applied linguistics community on a wide range of issues that will help understand, identify, solve our real-life problems resulting from language-related causes.
